Why I started Wrapped in Water
My hands hurt.
Not once in a while. They hurt all the time.
For years, I thought calloused, torn-up hands meant I was strong. My hands were tough because I fished hard, rowed boats, worked with line, and spent long days outside. I figured that was simply part of being an angler.
What I eventually learned is that dry, chapped hands aren’t tough. They’re painful, they crack, and they don’t heal properly when you keep putting them through the same conditions day after day.
I’m a fishing guide, and my face shows those years on the water too. Even using sunscreen, the sun, wind, cold, and water have taken their toll. Some days, I feel like I look 20 years older than I really am.
I started looking for better products, primarily for my hands, because I want to keep fishing well into my 60s, 70s, and hopefully my 80s. What I found was either nothing made specifically for anglers or products that were completely overdone. Most seemed built around outdoor marketing instead of the needs of people who actually fish.
That is where Wrapped in Water began.
I put this collection together around products I actually use and that work for me. Some solve specific problems anglers deal with. Some are just for fun. Every one of them belongs in the life we live on the water.
At the end of the day, fishing is my life. I want to continue doing it for years and years, and I hope these products help you do the same.
Fishing wrecks your hands and skin. Yeah, we fix that.
